History

During the Second World War, Elefante was the bivouac area of elements of "M" Company, 121st Infantry, USAFIP-NL. It suffered the worst atrocities in the municipality: on 16 October 1944 one half of the barrio was burned by the Japanese Imperial Army, and on 14 November 1944 the other half met the same fate.
